Pushing Boundaries ahead

Kenya embarked on a remarkable journey to enhance the quality of skills development in its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. Recognizing the importance of skills for economic growth and development, the country has actively sought to align its TVET system with global standards and practices. This commitment was further strengthened in 2020 when Kenya joined WorldSkills International (WSI), becoming its 85th member.

WorldSkills focus areas

International Cooperation

WorldSkillls brings together countries and industry skill ecosystems birthing skills development initiatives that improves occupational standards. 

Skills Competitions

WorldSkills implements skills competitions in various skill trades. This is the core focus area in line with the mission and vision. 

Promotion of Skills 

Through competitions, international conferences and Capacity building, WorldSkills aims to promote skills and improve the profile of skilled young people around the world. 

Education and Training 

WorldSkills develops learning resources hub and formulates capacity building cascading models in what is described as “WorldSkillls Centre of Excellence”.  The learning hub in drawn from international best practices learned from WorldSkills members and global industry standards around the world.

Research  

WorldSkills carries out research on international skills and labour standards from the industrial partners with the aim of incorporating best learnt practices into TVET. 

Career Building 

WorldSkills offers career development to young people based on the global labor standards and dynamics. Through competitions with other young people around the world, they are inspired to improve their skills and explore career opportunities aligned with the future of work.
