Kenya’s journey to joining WorldSkills International began in 2019, immediately after the competition in Kazan, Russia. TVETA’s Director-General, Langat Kipkirui, submitted Kenya’s application. Following a visit by the then outgoing WSI President Simon Bartley in February 2020, Kenya’s application received strong support from former President Uhuru Kenyatta. By October 2020, Kenya was formally admitted as the 84th member during a virtual WSI General Assembly.
